The cooling tower competition brings the opportunity to think about our cities and its surroundings in the long term. The urban challenges we are facing here are not very different from those witch, in other parts of the world, are re-shaping the cities. This requires a commitment from the authorities, stake holders, owners, etc. to transform our cities and the way we live and work.

 

From Brownfield to Greenfield to City Garden

 

Departing from the former industrial past of the site and surrounding area the proposal aims to develop an strategic approach that will allow a gradual transformation of the site. In this sense a series of stages are envisaged to provide a robust framework for a mixed development. The proposal would provide a mixed environment where housing, work, culture and natural settings are fully integrated without totally erasing either the industrial character or the natural conditions of the site.
