This sports arena designed to include a university sports teaching facility houses a full size football pitch and running track. The building sits along one side of the pitch with the façade wrapping and enclosing all the functions. The façade’s density and enclosure changes with its orientation and with the different functions it encloses. This effect creates a unique aesthetic to the building which in turn provides shading and openings for natural ventilation. All these devices together with the high thermal mass of the concrete frame help to further reduce the energy this building consumes.
